It is the policy of the Medico Legal Society of Victoria to respect its members’ privacy, and not to use personal information other than for the purposes for which it was given or without their permission. Contact details including addresses and telephone numbers of members will not be made publicly available, and will only be given to other members of the Society with the member’s permission. To that end, there is a space on the membership application form for members to indicate whether they give this permission.
Members’ contact details will be used for the purposes of the Society and its committee contacting members in relation to the activities of the Society, including transmitting details of the Society’s meetings and other information, and administrative issues including the sending out of subscription notices. It is intended that the “members only” section of the Society’s website should be just that – accessible only to members of the Society for the purpose of contacting and interacting with other members. Any member with specific concerns relating to privacy is invited in the first instance to contact the website administrator email@example.com or the Honorary Secretaries (whose contact details are available elsewhere on this website).
Members’ credit card details will be used only for the purposes of processing payments for membership and meetings.
The Society takes reasonable precautions to protect personal information it holds from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Where appropriate the Society uses secure transmission facilities. However, no transmission of information over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure and we do not warrant the security of any information transmitted to us over the internet.
